The founding members of our practice, Drs. Pero and Glinka, are special to our office (and our community).

Stephen J. Pero, DDS, retired in 2013

Dr. Stephen J. Pero completed dental school at St. Louis University. As a commissioned officer, he served for four years in the United States Army in Germany and Fort Leonard, Missouri.

After completing two years of pediatric dental training at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Dr. Pero opened his pediatric dental office on Monclova Road. Dr. Pero feels privileged to have cared for two to three generations of families in our community.

As of 2020, Dr. Pero and his wife are enjoying their children and grandchildren in Golden, Colorado, Portland, Oregon, and Ohio.

Michael P. Glinka retired in 2019

Dr. Michael P. Glinka was born and raised in Toledo. After receiving his Bachelor of Science from the University of Toledo, he completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1970 at the University of Detroit School of Dentistry.

Dr. Glinka completed his pediatric dental residency in Cleveland at Case Western Reserve / Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, and taught pediatric dentistry at the Medical College of Virginia at Richmond before moving back to Toledo.

Dr. Glinka joined Dr. Stephen J. Pero in 1977 and they practiced together until Dr. Pero’s retirement in 2013. Dr. Glinka continued to practice with Dr. Voss until 2019, when Dr. Glinka retired. Dr. Glinka enjoys living here in Maumee.

Our Little Guy

What is Our Little Guy supposed to be? Dr. Pero called him the Tooth Fairy. Dr. Glinka called him a giraffe (Have you met Spots and Speckles?)

In 1971, Dr. Stephen J. Pero started our pediatric dental practice in a former pediatrician office on the lower level of the 5757 Monclova Road Medical Building. The walls were adorned with creative wallpaper depicting renditions of an ambiguous creature, “Our Little Guy.”

When Dr. Pero was joined by Dr. Michael P. Glinka, they adopted the ambiguous creature as the official office spirit animal, and they settled on the yellow version (like our front door and sidewalk) with wagon-wheel feet. We welcome everyone to decide for themselves what “Our Little Guy” represents!

Spots and Speckles are our giraffes in the East Garden of our office. Our giraffes represent one interpretation of Our Little Guy and serve as a fun feature (and frequent selfie spot) of our office.
